Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the price for one stone or for everything shown in the photo?

The price listed is for the full lot -- meaning all the stones shown in the photo. You are purchasing exactly what you see. Each listing is photographed and priced as a complete set.

Are your turquoise stones natural or treated?

We carry both natural and stabilized turquoise, and every listing clearly states which it is. Natural turquoise is untreated and unaltered -- pure stone, nothing added. Stabilized turquoise has been hardened with a resin to improve durability -- a common and widely accepted practice in the industry.

Are the cabochons backed?

Some are backed and some are not. Every listing accurately indicates whether the stone is backed. If you have questions about a specific stone, feel free to reach out.

Can I request a specific size or shape?

Every cabochon is one of a kind and listed individually or as a lot, with a US dime (18mm) included for size reference. We do not take custom cut orders at this time, but new inventory is added regularly. Email us at sales@cuttingedgeturquoise.com if you are looking for something specific.

Do you offer wholesale pricing?

Yes, wholesale orders are handled outside of our website. Contact us at sales@cuttingedgeturquoise.com for more information. Our site also features sales, discounts and rewards programs open to everyone.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship worldwide. Domestic US orders over $100 ship free. International orders ship at a flat rate of $25, regardless of order size.

What is your return policy?

If you are not satisfied with your purchase, contact us within 30 days of receiving your order and we will make it right. Items must be returned in original condition. See our full return policy for details.

What does 'lapidary' mean?

A lapidary is a craftsperson who cuts, shapes, and polishes gemstones. Greg Cordova, owner of Cutting Edge Turquoise, is a second-generation lapidary with over 15 years of experience cutting turquoise and other natural stones by hand.

What is a turquoise cabochon?

A cabochon is a gemstone shaped and polished with a flat bottom and a smooth, rounded top -- as opposed to a faceted stone. Turquoise cabochons are cut from natural turquoise rough and are widely used in Native American and artisan jewelry making.

How do I care for my turquoise cabochons?

Turquoise is a porous stone -- keep it away from chemicals, lotions, and prolonged moisture. Store cabochons individually or wrapped in soft cloth to prevent scratching, and wipe clean with a dry or slightly damp soft cloth only.
